The 2025/26 NFL season has officially come to an end as Super Bowl 60 has crowned this year’s Champion. The Seattle Seahawks took on the New England Patriots at Levi Stadium in California. It turned into the defensive battle that we thought it would until one team just flexed their muscle more, and pulled away.

The New England Patriots won the coin toss and deferred to the second half, giving the Seattle Seahawks the ball first. They went right down the field and made a field goal to go up 3-0. That is also how the 1st quarter ended. Both defenses came out insanely aggressive, and were selling out with pressure on almost every play.

The Seahawks extended their lead with another field goal in the 2nd quarter to go up 6-0. Then will :11 seconds remaining in the 1st half, they made yet another to go up 9-0, and they took that lead into halftime. At the half, Seattle had 10 total first downs to New England’s 4, and they had 183 total yards to the Pat’s 51. The Seahawks defense was continuing their suffocation of the NE offense.

The Patriots opened up the 2nd half with the football, and ended up going three and out. Seattle continued to extend their lead with yet another field goal to give them a double digit lead of 12-0. Right after that, the Seahawks defense recovered a Drake Maye fumble with :10 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, and that 12-0 lead went into the 4th and final quarter.

Seattle started the 4th quarter with a Darnold to Barner 16-yard touchdown pass and a successful extra point making it 19-0. The Patriots then finally get on the scoreboard via a Maye to Hollins 35-yard TD pass and catch with a successful extra point to cut the Seahawks lead to 19-7. The New England defense stopped their offense on the next possession and got the ball back with a chance to put some real pressure on the Seahawks for the first time since the start of the game. However, the Seattle defense stayed stout and intercepted Drake Maye on a key drive with 8:37 remaining. Another Seattle field goal put them up 22-7, and with that, their kicker Jason Myers set a Super Bowl record with 5 field goals made, along with another Super Bowl record by scoring the most points in a Super Bowl by a kicker with 17. Then with 4:27 left in the game, the Seahawks defense gave their knockout punch. They rushed Drake Maye and got home. As they went for the sack, they stripped him of the football, and as it was floating through the air, instead of a fumble recovery, it was caught and intercepted in the backfield by Nwosu, and returned 45-yards for the game sealing touchdown as they went up 29-7. The Seahawks defense recorded 6 total sacks in the game, which is just one shy of the Super Bowl record. The Pats put one more score on the board with 2:21 left, as Maye found Stevenson on a short TD pass to cut the Seahawk’s lead to 29-13, as the 2-point conversion failed. They attempted the onside kick right after that, but it was not successful, and the Seattle Seahawks ran down the clock just under 2:00 before punting it back to the Patriots where the clock finally hit zero, and the Seattle Seahawks officially win their 2nd Super Bowl Championship, winning 29-13, and getting rid of the sting from the loss to the Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX in 2015. Congratulations to the Seahawks players, coaches, administration, everyone involved with the franchise, and the loyal fanbase. What a legendary defensive performance, and the team becomes the only team to ever go through their entire playoff run and win a Super Bowl without turning the ball over one time. What an incredible run!
